MAjor Spoilers Comics: The Giant Sized Holidanger Issue
A return to the Major Spoilers Comics continuity.... Happy Holidays, guys!!! As I work designing for the various examples of the Saturday Morning Goodness that occupy my working week, I like to listen to various podcasts and the like. One of my all time favorites is the much lauded Major Spoilers Podcast (as seen at http://www.majorspoilers.com/). It appeals mightily to the comicbook geek in me. If you folks out there dig Comics, Animation, and the like, go over and check them out. Their podcast is sharp, well produced and a lot of fun.
For kicks I decided to do a second novelty comicbook cover for them. Here be the results... I hope they dig it as well. The first cover can be seen here: http://tnperkins.deviantart.com/art/Major-Spoilers-Comics-77-153073535

My new Lunch Bag Blog!
Hey Folks!
I just started a new blog. It is called Thomas Perkins Lunch Bag Blog (http://lunchbagblog.blogspot.com/). Therein you shall you find my daily excursion to amuse my three children by decorating their lunch bags. As an animation designer I draw everyday, working to bring the Saturday Morning Goodness to the masses... but each day begins my doodling for my three munchkins in the endeavor to give them a grin throughout their day at school. Take a gander. Mayhap something here will amuse you too.
Cheers!

Random Fandom: Mystery in Space # 106 featuring Ultra the Multi-Alien....
Here be another bit o' the fan art. This is my homage / remake of the cover to Mystery in Space # 106 featuring Ultra the Multi-Alien. I love the old goonie characters. Everything in comics these days is so "serious".... I miss comics that were fun and adventurous without needing to resort to over the top dysfunctional sturm and drang...

Hey kids, it's KAIJU time!
Last year I had the extreme pleasure to get an opportunity to work on an animated adaptation of a comicbook I enjoy very much. It is Phil Hester and Andy Kuhn's "Firebreather". This upcoming week it is slated to be released in primetime on Cartoon Network as a Cartoon Network original movie on November 24th.
This adventure was directed by the illustrious Peter Chung. A fine and talented team of folks worked like mad to bring this film to fruition. As for my part in it, I got to design monsters for this fine adventure. It was a lot of fun to be sure. I hope you folks enjoy.

My Covered Blog Entry: Mimic the X-Man Issue No. 29...
Hey Folks, if you are looking for a fun website, I highly reccomend browsing the extensive comic book goodness found at Robert Goodin's Covered Blog (http://coveredblog.blogspot.com/) wherein he hosts submissions of a multitude of artists who take their own spin on comic book covers in their own unique way.
Here be my submission to that illustrious blog. As a life long fan of The X-Men and there occasional guest star, The Mimic. I always thought a good brawl would be The Mimic versus The Super Adaptoid. Thusly... here be the results. My own spin on a Marvel that never truly was in this reimaginig of X-Men #29. Hope you dig.

Fandom Moment: The Super Adaptoid.....
As a life long comics fan, there are many odd characters I have read about, but this villain is one of my all time favorite weird folk. I love the Super Adaptoid. Best fiight ever... Super Adaptoid Versus The Mimic! I figure over a couple of Lunchbreaks to indulge my inner fanboy and do a Super Adaptoid sketch the way I would like to draw him. Cheers....

My Labors have come to fruition! The release of "Thomas Perkins: A Collection of Odd Folk"....
At last! My Iphone / Ipad artbook app is OUT! HUZZAH!! For any curious to get a gander at it, it is called "Thomas Perkins: A Collection of Odd Folk" up at the Itunes Store. Here is one of the reasons I have not been posting as much of late. I have been a busy lad working on this.
http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/thomas-perkins-a-collection/id392205277?mt=8
Here be the blurb for it up omn the Itunes:
"A digital artbook filled with the odd denizens skating across the cerebellum of Thomas N. Perkins IV, a character designer for animation whose credits include Big Guy and Rusty the Boy Robot, The Batman, Ben 10, and TMNT to name a few. This book includes never-before-seen samples of the strange places and people that the flash across the mind's eye of the artist. Please take a moment to enjoy this collection of odd folk!"
And now you know why I was curious as to the Iphone / Ipad usage among the DA denizens. Have a good day folks.

Had I designed Spider Man India revisited...
Another brief jaunt into fan art dorkiness as I revisit an old idea I was playing with....
Back when I working on "Spectacular Spider-Man" I was chatting with my co-workers and we were speculating on other potential directions for the art from the comicbook "Spider-Man India". Here is my rough scribble of what I would have done given a chance.
Well, an amusing lunch time diversion, anyway...

Vintage Work : Rough Cat Woman art for toy packaging from "The Batman" (2004)
While working in animation, at times one might do ancillary art for merchandising related to the show you are on. Here is a rough drawing I did for toy packaging for a special edition Cat Woman toy from the show...

Vintage Work : Path of Development for Spellbinder from "The Batman" (2004)
Back in 2004 I had the great pleasure of working onthe design team for "The Batman" over at Warner Bros. Of the many odd and fun folks I got to draw for that show, one of my favorites was a one off villain called Spellbinder. Here is a look at the path of development from my sketches that went into making that character...

BEN 10: DNA Lab Hybrids Greyatter Set - Unused.....
Among my various gigs, I worked on the Cartoon Network hit, Ben 10. My tenure on that show lasted from the end of the First Season until the completion of the show with Season Four.
From that gig, I moved onto an ancillary project with Bandai. They had created an online game that was related to an episode we did called "Dr. Animo and the Mutant Ray" The the underlying premise being that Ben had broken the Omnitrix and was now transforming into hybrid mutations of his original ten aliens to form new and odd combinations. Here are some of the designs I did for the Bandai.com online game, "BEN 10- DNA Lab". I started designing these Hybrids last year and they have been unveiled in the game as each successive toy set game out. I did somewhere in the neighbor hood of 80 hybrids. This set is combining Ben's various aliens with his Greymatter alien form. Unfortunately they didn't end up needing the Greymatter designs and so they got left on the cutting room floor.
As the game has been out for a respectable time now and posted and reposted on fansites hither and yon, I figure that I can now display them in my portfolio without fear of leaking sensitive info. Many of you have seen these over at ~Akamu1228's gallery and similar fan postings.

White Chapel Forum Remake: Amazing Adult Fantasy No. 15....
Another entry into the White Chapel forum hosted by Warren Ellis! To see more of the entries here is a link: freakangels.com/whitechapel/comments.php?DiscussionID=787...
As quoted of Warren Ellis' Forum: "Here's the rules:
You are an artist/designer. You have to put together the cover for issue 15 of a comic called AMAZING ADULT FANTASY.
Now, the publisher has decreed that, with #15, the title will become simply AMAZING FANTASY. But, I dunno, you're a drunk, or a drug fiend, or you have seizures or something, and you've totally forgotten about that. AMAZING ADULT FANTASY it is.
Thing is, there's a new character to be introduced on the cover. You remember that instruction. But you lost all the notes and pages -- you used them for bedding or toilet paper, you don't really recall. You know nothing about that character beyond its name, and that it apparently fits in a book called AMAZING ADULT FANTASY (which was once subtitled "The magazine that respects your intelligence").
All you know that is the title is AMAZING ADULT FANTASY, the issue number is 15, and there has to be a character called SPIDER-MAN on the cover somewhere.
And that's it.
It's up to you what kind of company you're at. What kind of comics you make. What era you're in. Who you are, even. Go nuts with it.
You have one week. Go. "

White Chapel Forum Remake: SUPERMAN No. 1....
I saw the entries by DBed, Gaston25, Hartter for Warren Ellis' White Chapel forum theme of remaking Superman, and thought I would take a stab my self for kicks....
Thanks for the inspiration guys. You all have done really fun and interesting images for the forum.
The rules: Design a cover for a comic book. The character is named Superman who wears predominantly blue with a red "S". The cover needs to have the phrase "The complete story of the daring exploits of the one and only superman".
